St. Lawrence Open House Draws a Crowd

The annual Fall Open House took place on the evening of Monday, November 4th, bringing hundreds of prospective students and their families to the college. As usual, the event was well-attended, with this year's estimated guest count exceeding 1000 people.

Guests started trickling in before the end of the school day, keen to get a spot in the always-crowded general presentation for French high school students. The Auditorium was standing room only as students and parents learned about the college's offerings and strengths, and how Law 14 will affect course sequences next year. A similar presentation for anglophone students, given by College Director Edward Berryman, was also well attended.

The largest crowd of the night arrived in the gym for the Science program presentation at 6:25. Over 350 people were keen to hear about our most popular program, which consistently draws a high degree of interest from future students and their families. After hearing from Science teachers, guests were able to visit the three labs—biology, chemistry and physics—to learn about the college's resources and watch student volunteers demonstrate simple experiments.

Attendees also had the chance to attend presentations given by program representatives for Social Science, Business, and Arts, Literature and Communication, and by the Lions hockey team recruiter. There was something for everyone.

The students, staff, and faculty volunteers were the stars of the show, shepherding guests around the college and providing information on programs, student groups and sports teams at booths in the library and atrium.

The evening drew to a close around 8:30, as attendees headed out into the rainy night with their St. Lawrence viewbooks, a taste of what the college has to offer, and the information they need to apply for the Fall 2025 session.

If you missed this week’s event, you can learn more about the college by taking a Campus Tour on Friday, November 22nd or 29th.
