St. Lawrence is off to the National Model UN!
The National Model United Nations (NMUN) will take place in New York between April 5 and April 11, 2025. NMUN is an educational simulation where student-delegates from around the world adopt the role of diplomats and work together to find solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems, with these solutions being passed on to the UN itself.
In 2025, St. Lawrence will represent Argentina, and our students will sit on committees discussing the issues listed below. To prepare for this, they have been attending weekly workshops since August, performed extensive research about Argentina and their committee topics, attended a practice simulation at Université Laval, and have written a 1500-word research paper. They have also been raising money for their trip through a series of fundraising events.
In New York, they will be very busy working in their committees, whether it be giving speeches, negotiating, voting, or writing resolutions, often from 8 am to 10 pm! The group will also be visiting Argentina's Permanent Mission to the UN and the UN headquarters. They will have a very busy and, hopefully, very rewarding week.
Good luck to all representatives, and we hope the experience is challenging and rewarding.
