Student Élisabeth Proteau Wins Prize for Research on Wellness at Work

On May 25th, The Faculty of Social Science at Université de Québec à Montréal hosted the Colloque interordre de la recherche étudiante en sciences sociales et humaines, which brought together around 35 students students from colleges and universities.

As part of the event, cégep students presented posters about their research in a variety of Social Science and Humanities fields. Among them was Élisabeth Proteau, a Social Science student at St. Lawrence. Her poster, entitled “Améliorer l’offre de services en santé mentale et le bien-être au travail: création, implantation et évaluation d’un nouveau programme hybride intégré” (Improving mental health services and well-being at work: creation, implementation and evaluation of a new integrated hybrid program), reported on research that has sought to improve the mental health and well-being of adult workers and managers. The team on this project includes researchers from St. Lawrence and from Université Laval.

“The program has a virtual component, with a well-being app designed by healthcare professionals, and self-management courses,” says Élisabeth, whose novel research is perhaps the first to investigate this kind of well-being program. “We are currently in the implementation phase and results will start to be collected next spring.”

Élisabeth was one of just three students recognized with $300 scholarships, "Le prix de la doyenne pour la meilleure communication affichée" (Dean’s prize for best displayed communication), awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences at UQAM. We extend our congratulations to Élisabeth on this accomplishment and wish her team good luck with the next phase of the project.
