Canadian Authors Conference

On Thursday, April 23th, St. Lawrence had the pleasure of hosting two writers for a Canadian Authors Conference. Authors Melissa Blair (A Broken Blade) and Sylvain Neuvel (Sleeping Giants) came to the college to speak about their work and about writing via a Q&A with students.

Melissa and Sylvain answered questions about their writing processes, inspiration, and careers, among other things. A highlight came from first-time author Melissa Blair, who explained how she was able to self-publish thanks to her strong social media presence and how she received an offer from a traditional publisher.

The event was organized for those in the Canadian Arts and Literature course, but those in Pop Fiction and Long Fiction also attended, making up an audience of around 125 students.

Thank you to Sylvain and Melissa for sharing your experiences and wisdom with our literary-minded students.
