2023 Graduation Ceremony Recognizes Student Achievement

The St. Lawrence graduation ceremony took place last Friday, June 2nd at the Centre Montmartre, bringing together students, parents, teachers, and staff for an evening of celebration.

Spirits were high as gown-clad graduates from Science, Social Science, Business, ALC, and the General DEC walked the stage and posed for photos with their peers. The event was hosted by Emma Lawrence, Communication Counsellor, and opened by Director of the Constituent College and Director of Studies, Edward Berryman, who gave an uplifting speech to the graduates.

Representatives of many of the college’s partner institutions and from the Champlain Regional College administration were present to recognize students for their achievements in academics, athletics, sociocultural involvement, and community service. 32 awards were presented, with a combined value of $33,500. We are proud of all award winners, but we would particularly like to recognize those with the highest achievement in their programs: Elli Morgan Anderson, Emma Biron, Valérie Langevin, and Juliette Demers, who was also the recipient of the Board of Governors’ Merit Award and the Governor General’s Medal for highest overall academic achievement.

You can read about the winners and their awards on our website: https://slc.qc.ca/students/academic-information-and-calendar/awards-for-academics.

A highlight of the evening was when, near the end of the ceremony, both the AQPC Excellence in Teaching Award and the St. Lawrence Students’ Association Teacher Recognition Award, were presented to Leigh Bateman, who is retiring from the English department this year. Students cheered loudly as he took to the stage.

The event was wrapped up by valedictorian Alyson Paradis, whose words got laughs from her fellow graduates and their guests. Hats were thrown, canapés were enjoyed, and the school year came to an end.

Congratulations to all our graduates, and we wish you all the best as you take the next steps in your education or career.
