Each year the student association gives the SLCSA Teacher Recognition Award to a teacher that goes above and beyond expectations by exhibiting outstanding devotion, great availability and a willingness to help students.

The graduating class of 2019 named psychology teacher Christopher Asthon recipient of the annual Excellence in Teaching award for his dedication to his students, participating in many extracurricular activities and being a mental health sentinel.
