St. Lawrence Champions at “Tournoi Jeunes Démocrates”
Champlain Saint-Lawrence College congratulates its delegation to the 26th edition of the prestigious Tournoi Jeunes Démocrates for winning the gold medal as well as a scholarship of $2,000. The team, composed of students Ruo Lan Wang, Gabriel Daveluy Fletcher, Charlotte Dupont, Gabrielle Simoneau and Benoit Janelle accompanied by coach Alexandre Thibault, defeated Cégep du Vieux-Montréal in the final round on Sunday, giving Saint-Lawrence its first title since 2001.
Organized by the National Assembly, the “Jeunes Démocrates” Tournament is a trivia-questions game, on which participants compete based on Quebec political history, evolution of democracy, from ancient Greece to today.
Students from high schools and colleges, province-wide, participate every year at this educational activity. It was held at Parliament Hotel and François-de-Laval College on April 13-15.
