$2,000 bursary from RBC helps Felix Lessard launch BD-Performance.ca

CEGEP Champlain St. Lawrence, in conjunction with its KickStart SLC sponsor Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), is pleased to announce that the KickStart program will be supporting Mr. Felix Lessard, CEGEP Champlain St. Lawrence student, in the launch of his web based recreational vehicle parts distribution business. Mr. Lessard will use this bursary to join with five other partners investing in the distribution business start-up.

Felix’s decision to participate in the start-up of BD-Performance.ca, is grounded in his family roots. “I live in a family of entrepreneurs and along with my participation in the CEGEP Champlain St. Lawrence P.W. Sims business program, I have been reading plenty of different periodicals to be aware of many elements in the field of business. I want to be an entrepreneur and investor, and this is what has inspired me to get involved in this start-up business”, stated Felix.

BD-Performance.ca is a web-based business that will perform drop shipping and distribution of parts for recreational vehicles, going from boat parts to motorcycles. According to Mr. Lessard the company already has agreements with a number of different suppliers and the start-up team is working hard to grow the variety of products that the company will make available on its website.

Felix continued, “the next step is to launch our website which is the largest part of the start-up challenge. Development of the website is already underway and we anticipate launching our completed website during the coming summer. As we launch the business, we will also travel to a number of the industry trade shows to promote our distribution platform and recruit both suppliers and customers. We will start in Québec, but overtime our ambitions are to become Canada-wide maybe even all North America”.

Felix plans to continue his business studies but emphases’ that “it is possible to manage a business while studying if you are serious, rigorous and perseverant, and with the support of the KickStart SLC program teachers, mentors and sponsors I am confident that we can start a successful business”.

Kickstart SLC is a service offered to students at St. Lawrence who wish to start their own business, learn more about start-ups and expand their business network with actual entrepreneurs in partnership with the program sponsors. Mentors from different business backgrounds volunteer to exchange with students and to help them progress in their business idea. Workshops and visits from our team of mentors and other professionals are organized through the year to support student projects.

Congratulations to Felix and his partners!
