Justin Robert and his undefeated team

The last game, of the first half of the season, was played last Saturday and the St. Lawrence Lions Women’s basketball is the only undefeated team of the RSEQ Division 2. Coach Justin Robert is extremely proud of the accomplishment of his players.

Jeanne Bellerose, Ariane Doré and Karine Demeule have excellent 15 points per game averages which greatly helps the team to maintain a comfortable advantage during the games. Bellerose and Doré, both rookies, are very important athletes for the Lions program.

Demeule ends her basketball collegiate career on a very positive note as she scored 24 points out of the 74 against Jonquière last weekend. Her team won the game 74 to 46. Karine has been part of the Lions basketball program since 2013. She and her team played the Provincial Championships every Spring and her bronze medal at the 2014 Championship is well deserved.

This student-athlete is thankful to her coach, Justin Robert, who was not only a coach but a big brother to her during her collegiate career. She wishes the best of luck to her teammates and hopes that the rest of the season brings them to a coveted spot at the Provincial Championship. Demeule will be pursuing her studies at University Laval in Biology. Her wish is to pursue a PHD in Australia.

Robert is very pleased with the fact that his athlete was a role model during her last session at St. Lawrence.  Karine played the role of assistant coach on the field but more importantly shared her experience with her younger teammates. Her leadership, her intensity in game situation and her maturity are all aspects that helped her team members develop their athletic abilities as well as their academic work ethic.

Everybody in the sports department would like to thank Karine for her great contribution to the St. Lawrence Lions basketball program. We wish her success in all her personal and academic projects.
