Pierre-Cédric Labrie Named as Lions Men’s Hockey Coach

Cegep Champlain – St. Lawrence is very proud to announce the nomination of former NHL player Pierre-Cédric Labrie as the new Lions Head Coach and Coordinator of Hockey Operations.

Pierre-Cédric played 3 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, 14 seasons in the American Hockey League, and two in Europe. He notably won the Calder Cup in 2012 with the Norfolk Admirals and the German Eishockey League title in 2022 with Berlin. For the last two seasons, he has been a player representative for the Professional Hockey Players Association. These past two years with Syracuse, he was also assigned to take a mentorship and leadership role for the younger players to help them develop.

Pierre-Cédric took an unconventional path to becoming a professional hockey player, working his way up through various leagues before making it to the NHL. This level of determination will certainly be a high source of motivation for our players. “I have always known that I wanted to coach after my playing career, and I am very thrilled by this opportunity,” says Labrie.

Pierre-Cédric’s passion, communication skills, and his ability to help our players grow as individuals make him a perfect fit for our program. Developing “A-Class citizens”, creating a winning culture based on commitment, hard work and fun are the main values he will bring to our Lions Hockey team. “Pierre-Cédric stood out because of his positive attitude, his hockey knowledge, his vision for our team, and his passion for the game.” says Jérémie Ouellet, Student Activities Counsellor.

St. Lawrence hockey training camp will begin on August 8th and our first home game is scheduled on September 17th at Aréna des Deux Glaces in Val-Bélair.
