Appointment Notice – M. Benjamin René Named New Director of St. Lawrence

The Board of Governors of Champlain Regional College, and its Chair, Ms. Geneviève Gagné, are pleased to announce the appointment of the new Director of Champlain Regional College – St-Lawrence, Mr. Benjamin René, who will assume his new duties on August 17th.

Holding a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in musicology, a graduate microprogram in public administration, and currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in strategic project management, Benjamin has served for the past four years as Assistant Director of Studies at Cégep de Lévis and Cégep de Sainte-Foy, where he managed several programs and departments as well as led educational development projects. He also served as Director of the International and Entrepreneurship Office.

Throughout his career in music education, he has also held the positions of program and department coordinator, Executive Director of the Quebec Federation of Music Educators’ Associations, and Lecturer at the Faculty of Music of Université Laval. Benjamin is a visionary leader in the field of education, who has distinguished himself by his commitment, humility, and authenticity, as well as his profound understanding of emerging socio-economic issues in the college network. In addition to being passionate about teaching and student success, he has been actively involved in the arts community of the Capitale-Nationale for over 25 years, and maintains a dedicated athletic practice. Benjamin joins Champlain Regional College – St-Lawrence at a pivotal stage in its institutional development, with the aim of strengthening its position as a key partner in the communities we serve.

Furthermore, over the past few years, he has developed a solid understanding of the issues and significant expertise in the field of sustainable development and greening—knowledge that will undoubtedly energize our team culture and mobilize stakeholders. Finally, recognized for the quality of his relationships with various stakeholders within the college network, his arrival is an undeniable asset to Champlain Regional College, helping us prepare our future leaders.
