Academic Support
Our academic support services are dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. With access to valuable resources and personalized support from the Academic Advisor, the Guidance Counselor, and the Social Worker, students receive the help they need to guide them through their studies, build effective strategies, and manage academic responsibilities with confidence.

Academic Advising

All St. Lawrence students and students transferring from another CEGEP can meet with the Academic Advisor to discuss their academic journey. In some cases, high school students can also consult the Academic Advisor.

- Understand your program requirements and how many courses you have left
- Plan your course schedule each semester to stay on track for graduation especially if you’re considering taking extra semesters
- Decide whether to reduce your course load
- Request changes to your courses
- Discuss whether to withdraw from a course
- Explore options if you’re thinking about changing your program
- Get information about the English Exit Exam, Épreuve uniforme de français (EUF) or your program’s Comprehensive Assessment (CA)
- Learn about summer school or remote course options
- Access referrals for academic or career-related challenges
- Discover the student success resources available to help you achieve your academic goals
How to Access
You can consult the Academic Advisor by making an appointment, dropping in during regular business hours (time permitting) or sending a MIO message.
Adapted Services
Accommodations at CEGEP are not the same as those provided in high school. They are determined based on your individual needs and the college’s ability to provide appropriate support.
Services Offered
Adapted Services provides personalized accommodations and support to students with a limitation, disability, or condition, ensuring they have the tools they need to reach their academic potential.
Important Reminders
- High school accommodations do not transfer automatically to college. All students must go through the college assessment process.
- Submit your request as early as possible. Appointment availability may be limited, especially at the start of the semester.
- Processing takes a minimum of two weeks, depending on:
- How quickly you submit complete documentation
- The number of requests we are handling
- Staff availability and assignment
Accommodations cannot be arranged for exams or assignments taking place within the next few days. Please plan ahead so we can ensure the support is in place when you need it.
How to Access Adapted Services
If you require accommodations or support through Adapted Services, follow the steps below to begin the process. Please apply as early as possible as accommodations cannot be arranged on short notice, and processing takes a minimum of two weeks once all documentation is submitted.
Step 1
Complete the Request Form
Start by filling out the Adapted Services Request Form. This form is the first step in order to open your file with Adapted Services.
Step 2
Submit Diagnostic Documentation
Along with the form, you must upload official diagnostic documentation from a qualified healthcare professional, such as:
- A family doctor
- A neuropsychologist
- A psychiatrist
- A speech-language pathologist
Your documentation must clearly state your diagnosis.
You may also include an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) from high school or another institution to support your request but note that an IEP does not replace the required diagnostic document.
Step 3
Wait for a MIO Message
Once your form and documents are received, a member of the Adapted Services team will contact you via MIO (the college’s internal messaging system) to schedule a one-on-one appointment with a counselor.
This appointment will help determine which accommodations are appropriate for your academic needs.

Peer tutoring provides a flexible and collaborative way to strengthen your understanding of course material and build effective study strategies.
Services Offered
Tutoring Services, with a second-year student from St. Lawrence who is a trained peer tutor, are free and available in English, French, Science (Math, Chemistry and Physics), Social Science (Math, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Methods) and in certain Business classes.
