Abstract Colour Studies Painting Exhibition

Abstract Colour Studies Painting Exhibition

The students of the Painting Complementary Course in French are pleased to announce their first exhibition of the winter session: “Abstract Colour Studies” in the third floor hallway near the side exit door.

Initially begun by drawing abstract forms based on the surrealist technique of “automatic drawing”, each painting was then carefully developed reflecting the particular aesthetic choices and style of each student. In order to create complex yet harmonious color compositions, the students selected three analogous colors and three of their complementary contrasts, which they then diversified by creating tints and shades. Various painting techniques were explored, including painting in gradients, textures, and varying line widths, with multiple colour applications using a brush and palette knife. By exploiting both the repetition of colors and the decisive placement of white forms, the students created a specific rhythm for each composition.

Congratulations to the art students for your original and dynamic compositions!
