Etienne Collin is awarded an $80,000 Schulich Leader scholarship

This year, St. Lawrence student Etienne Collin has won the Schulich Leaders scholarship to study Computer Science at Université de Montréal. Etienne's eventual goal is to attain a master's degree and possibly a doctorate in artificial intelligence.

Of all scholarships, the Schulich Leader scholarship is one of the most prestigious. A very select few entrepreneurial-minded science students are chosen to study at partnering universities across Canada. Science and math scholarships are valued at a whopping $80,000.

"When I received the email saying that I got the scholarship I thought that it was fake," said Etienne when receiving the news. He explains that his disbelief was compounded by the fact that he had encountered many challenges including a concussion while mountain biking. The last thing he thought was that he would be chosen for the scholarship.

The idea of the Schulich Leaders scholarship is to take the burden of everyday life away from your studies.

“Schulich Leaders can devote their full time and attention to their studies, as all of their financial needs are covered over the course of their Bachelor's degree. As a result, many of Canada's highest potential students are winning these scholarships and will make game-changing contributions to society”

Etienne can now devote 100% of his time to getting the grades he needs to move forward.
