The 2025 edition of the St. Lawrence Fashion Show took place on Friday, March 28th at the Man\u00e8ge Militaire Voltigeurs de Qu\u00e9bec. The event drew a crowd of over 300 people, many of whom wore their most fashionable outfits for the occasion. Attendees gathered for a cocktail at 6pm, in advance of the show, and were treated to the musical stylings of St. Lawrence\u2019s own What the Heck band.<\/p>\n

The show unfolded in two parts, with each student model walking twice. The first half, titled Act I: Conformity<\/em>, was themed around compliance and the idea of a uniform. The models donned clothes in dark colours, all with a common look. Several were in streetwear-inspired styles, and all looks had a rather serious, post-apocalyptic quality. Despite the strong throughlines between looks, the stylists played with a diversity of interesting features, including zippers, tulle, appliqu\u00e9 and embroidery, and lace.<\/p>\n

The second half of the show, which followed a fifteen-minute intermission, provided a stark contrast. Titled Liberty<\/em>, it celebrated individuality and freedom, presenting models in a rainbow of colours and unusual fabrics. Some styles were ultra-feminine or masculine, and others embraced androgyny. The evolution from Conformity to Liberty inspired the show\u2019s name, The Uprising<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Man\u00e8ge Militaire was a fitting venue for the event, given the influence that the concept of \u201cuniform\u201d had on the first half of the show. The catwalk was arranged in a dimly lit brick space, which added to the feeling of unease in the first half, and which allowed the technicolour looks in the second half to shine.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s organizers took to the stage at the end of the evening to announce that the show had raised $9,860 for the charity Fondation des gouverneurs de l\u2019espoir<\/em>, which supports the families of critically ill children. As always, it was an evening of fun for a good cause.<\/p>\n
