2 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GOLF ATHLETES AT CHAMPLAIN ST. LAWRENCE

The Champlain - St. Lawrence Golf program is proud to announce that two of its athletes received a 4000$ scholarship from “la Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec”. 28 golfers from the Province of Quebec were on the honour list of this gala. Lions Louis-Alexandre Jobin-Colgan and Sarah-Eve Rhéaume have been honored in the “soutien à la réussite académique et sportive” category.

4000$: LOUIS-ALEXANDRE JOBIN-COLGAN

Jobin-Colgan registered in the Pure and Applied Sciences Program, at Champlain - St. Lawrence, played a very good season this Fall and finished third at the RSEQ Provincial Championship in the individual category. Jobin also helped his team to win the Provincial Championship banner. This member of the Cap-Rouge Golf Club unfortunately had to withdraw from the Nationals because of a virus that nailed him to a hospital bed. Louis-Alexandre also played great golf throughout his Summer in the Golf Québec tournaments. He finished second at the Junior Provincial Championship. Then, at the Canada Games, he was honored with a silver medal in the individual category and a gold medal in the team category.

4000$ : SARAH-EVE RHÉAUME

Sarah-Eve is a member of the Royal Quebec Golf Club and is registered in the Social Science Program at Champlain - St. Lawrence. Rhéaume dominated the RSEQ 2017 Provincial Championship, held here in Quebec City. She won the gold medal giving her direct access to the Nationals in Durham, Ontario. A page of history for the CCAA Golf National was written as Rhéaume pushed the competition to an extra hole for the first time ever. Determinated but most importantly very concentrated, she finished on the highest step of the podium in the individual category. She also leads her team to the silver medal. During the Summer of 2017, Rhéaume had great performances in the different competitions organized by Golf Québec. Rhéaume received a bronze medal at the 2017 Coca-Cola Junior Championship and another bronze medal at the Junior Provincial Championship. Finally, but not least, Sarah-Eve was a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2017 Canada Games.

FINALE THOUGHT

Everybody involved in the Lions program would like to congratulate both student-athletes for their accomplishments and hard work ethics during the year. Excellent and devoted coach Fred Colgan, involved with our golf program for the past 20 years, deserves a true recognition from all of us for making Champlain - St. Lawrence shine nationwide.
